VEDI Inc. is developing “News2Reel4RealFolks”a multiplatform series to bring a fresh, humanistic approach and solutions to topical issues that impact veterans and their community

Leading veteran empowerment group takes lead in providing compassionate support for both military and sports veterans starting with the daunting “Concussion Discussion”

Garden City, NY: –  The movie “Concussion” has generated new momentum for a much needed discussion and plan of action driven not only by new protocols and safety gadgets, but ideally a new culture within the military and professional sports. “Major corporations – including media groups – have joined forces with the NFL to identify some new ideas and training methods, while the NFL still grapples with lawsuits and untimely deaths of forgotten, former players.  According to Meta J. Mereday, an award winning journalist, advocate for veterans and Founder of VEDI, Inc., what is missing is the discussions with retired players and soldiers about their experiences as the “faces of concussion” and getting them the resources and assurances they need as well as actual changes in the game to address and minimize the attack oriented “warrior”.

“We know that the NFL and the Department of Defense are working together because concussions belong in the traumatic brain injury family, but the design competitions and uneven protocol formats still leave too many at risk,” stated Mereday. “We need to capture the life stories and challenges and document the impact of concussions as a human interest story and community concern because our players and veterans are suffering in silence, but society is impacted as a whole. Science and gimmicks won’t solve the problem, changing the culture and educating the people will.”

News2Reel 4RealFolks” will highlight topical stories in a series format with in depth news, human interest and a wrap up that provides solutions and resources. N2R4RF will employ a multiplatform concept that will incorporate standard interview formats, webcasting interspersed with social media, research and resource supports for the specific topic on tap. With an informal and relaxed setting, N2R4RF will focus on the issues at hand, the individuals and their respective communities directly impacted and highlight what is being done and introduce strategies to bridge gaps. “Too often current programming is so outlandish, that viewers are left with a bad taste which is a wasted opportunity to make changes for the better. We want to give a new spin to topical issues and introduce a media model that is more humanistic and proactive.” The premiere piece will highlight the untold stories, missed opportunities and strategic possibilities regarding the Concussion Discussion.

VEDI Inc. and its health disparities partner, Empowered Health Partnerships will be partnering with the media, military, medical communities for the premiere segment and engaging other diverse constituencies  to develop the programming.

VEDI, a 501 (c ) (3) was established in 2008 to collaborate with various organizations to create an effective national model to build programs that will grow veteran businesses and increase veteran employment. VEDI works with local colleges and universities to develop programs to increase veteran entrepreneurial training and employment outreach.
