|The Soldiers Project Long Island Chapter is a proud partner of the Long Island Veterans Initiative at Farmingdate (LIVA@F) and many others working at “Bridging The Gap Between Veterans and Veterans Services.” At the March inaugural meeting of the program called “LI HEATS UP” – Long Island Heroes Empowerment and Transitional Support – United Platform, a new 24/7 automated referral system was introduced. Still in development, it will immediately connect vets to a wide range of support services and referrals via a secure internet based network. Stay tuned for this truly innovative attempt to coordinate the ample yet poorly coordinated services for veterans. In the Long Island region with the most veterans in all of New York State, and in this time of reduced numbers in deployment, it is critical that veterans services be coordinated. LI HEATS UP may be the new model for early and successful integration into civilian life!
